Snow, Snow more snow

I found that many families were caught by surprise when the power went out during the last big storm. I did not have a battery powered radio and would have liked to know what was happening during the 36 hours our power was out. We should all keep a list of stuff we need during power outages. Check the availability and freshness of the stuff on the list twice a year. It is easy to remember to do if you tie it into an already scheduled event, like when we adjust the clocks for daylight savings time. This events trigger things like checking the batteries in out smoke detectors and now the emergency supplies. Everyone's needs will differ but usually are similar in nature. Water and or other fluids, canned or preserved food stuffs, flash lights, batteries or a hurricane lamp. A bucket to melt snow. It's the only way to get water to flush if you need power for a well. We figured out we could recharge our cell phones on the car changer. We needed to start the cars anyway to shovel/plow the snow. We were fortunate to have a heater in one part of our home that does not need electric power so we were not concerned about heat, but you may need to plan for how to stay warm too. This is not published as all inclusive and if you can think of other neccessities post a reply for us all to share.

Supervisor Appointment

I was recently appointed a supervisor for Upper Southampton township. This time consuming responsability will allow me to apply my organizing talents in a new and interesting direction. There will be challanges to organizing my own schedule to facilitate dealing with my daily commercial responsabilities, the residential organizing clients and the township position. Thanks be to God that organizing anything especially something like my own scheduling is really satisfying for me. So bring it on, the more the merrier.

Recovery from Hip Repalcement

The total Hip Replacement I had on August 28 went really well. It kept me from doing some of the bending and lifting normally associated with the residential clients but the recovery has been astonishingly quick. Currently, most clients do not even know that I had surgery as it no longer seriously effects my productivity.

Minor Glitch in Scheduling

Organizing is very personal in nature. Not only from the persons point that is being organized but from the organizers point as no one can fill in for you when affected by a disability or injury. I came to this when discovering that i needed the second hip replacement recently. There are challanges to deal with conerning scheduling existing clients to work around presurgery procedures and the 2 to 4 weeks of down time befor returning to a productive capacity. Additionally, new clients may not be willling to wait a month or so prior to starting their project which puts a real dent in the growth of the business. Anyway, Surgery is scheduled for the end of August and i want to thank everyone who has prayed for my successful recovery and speedy return. My phone still works for those that have situations where is can do "virtual" solutions, and don't hesitate to email me at swallin@gottagetorganized.org .

Thanks to my Loyal Clients

It is really frustrating when a client books a session and then notifies you just prior to the appointment that they cannot keep the schedule. On the other hand the quality clients that are really interested in organizing services are in essence penalized by this discourtesy. While they could not get the services they need due to scheduling other clients that cancelled just seems unfair and unjustified. Please when working with any small independant professional be consious of not just their time but the needs of others in need.

Got Issues

This blog is where you can post questions about how to organize space or stuff. I will usually be able to respond to your questions within a day, as long as there is no research required.
